My least favorite part of completing an outfit is adding jewelry. Yes, I said it! I’m the girl who wears her dainty 16” solid gold chain complete with initial, everywhere. I absolutely refuse to go a day without it. I’ve never been the type to venture into the world of large hoops and tassel earrings. Though don’t get me wrong, they can look absolutely beautiful. They have just never quite been my style.
Just as trends come and go, tassels and hoops have become a traditional summer staple for 2018. However, in 2019 hoops have proven to withstand the test of trends and time. Over the winter season, we saw hoops take on all new shapes, sizes, and textures. From the beaded and large, to hammered and midi. Hoops are here to stay.
For most of my life, I’ve restricted my self to wearing simple barely-there studs. This was mostly due to the fact that as a student-athlete, we were never really allowed to wear earrings in sports. Once I got to college, I found my self wanting to experiment with new earrings and maybe a new piercing or two. However, I always found it extremely hard to venture outside of my comfort zone, AKA sterling silver, or pearl studs. Fast Forward about 4-5 years, I have slowly ventured in into incorporating more tortoise and gold into my jewelry collection. I also have been researching ethical brands, such as Vrai & Oro, Mejuri, and Catbird, that craft fine jewelry without the mark up as traditional jewelry retailers. Since my research, I’ve really taken this concept of ditching fast fashion jewelry, traditional retailers into consideration and really saving to invest in finner pieces that are sustainable. These brands offer the perfect pieces that can either be layered, stacked, or worn on their own. Some even offer perfect engagement pieces for brides of all styles. All three brands are also very transparent about the sourcing of their diamonds and giving back to their communities.
One thing that I love about Mejuri, is that they often collaborate with certain content creators on special collections that are designed by them and only sold for a limited time. To include but not limited to; Tamira Jarell, Ingrid Nilsen, Lauren Elizabeth, and Claire Marshall just to name a few. Usually, I’m not one for the whole limited time gimmick of marketing. But when Mejuri decided to collab with one of my favorite content creators/ Youtuber Claire Marshall, I was super intrigued to check out the collection. As I browsed their site, I came across the edged hoops. They were perfect in size, color, and weight. Since purchasing they have become my everyday hoop. Though they are no longer available, (insert crying face) I still felt the need to write about them because they are such a unique, simple and elegant style that is feminine with a bit of edge. Hence the name of the collection.
Though I can’t link the exact ones since they are discontinued. I will link a similar option to the #edgedcollection form the clairexmejuri collaboration. From either of the brands listed above. Till next time!
